A Breath of Fresh Air

So we've been in quarantine for, what, almost five months now? Thankfully my husband and I are both healthy and have the luxury of working from home during this time, which I know is not the case for most people. While we've been extremely fortunate to stay home and continue living our normal lives with minimal trips outside of our home, it was finally time to get out and enjoy some fresh air away from people for a day. We took off last Thursday and went exploring in the Olympic mountains, which I've never been to before. The weather was a little drizzly and overcast, but it was such a refreshing hike to stay cool and we had gorgeous views of an alpine lake at the end. 

I always feel so refreshed after we spend the day together in the mountains. In our neighborhood, there is constant noise and traffic on the street, so getting to hear nothing but rushing water and birds chirping is such a nice treat. I had a really great time trying to capture this beautiful place, but it's always more stunning in person than it looks in the photos. 



I've been taking a step back from blogging and podcasting as a whole this summer to really focus on my mental and physical health. It's been amazing! In the month of July, I decided to commit to eating more whole foods, less processed, and significantly reduce my sugar intake. I've also been trying to get up and do something active with my body at least once a day like going on a walk or doing yoga for 30 minutes. I can tell it's already done so much good for my overall health. 

I also recently started journaling with a method called Morning Pages. My friend Caitlin recommended it to me and I decided to give it a shot. I've attempted to journal many times before, but it never stuck and I always felt like I was doing it wrong. Thankfully there's no "wrong" way to journal with the Morning Pages method and it's been clearing my head so much. If you're struggling with the state of the world right now (I mean, who's not struggling), I would suggest looking into journaling. 

This year has been so crazy and weird, but oddly enough I feel more at peace and more content with my life than I ever have before. I've always been in a place of wanting more, not being satisfied with what I currently have, and ultimately wishing for something that could make me happy. Right now my life is pretty monotonous. I wake up at 6:30am, shower, make breakfast, work until about 3pm, go for a walk, make dinner, watch TV in the evening, and that's about it. That's my schedule on weekdays and on weekends I usually work on my bullet journal, clean the house, and do laundry. All of this sounds so boring, but it's actually really nice and I look forward to each day. I've taken on new responsibilities with several of my clients during the pandemic and have minimized my client load while still working about 55 hours a week. It's hectic, but super rewarding. 


Anyways, that's it for now. I do have a few episodes of The Working Diva planned out that I will record soon, so stay tuned for that. I've also tried out a really great beauty product this week that I plan to review here on the blog soon. I hope you are doing well and find some time to relax in the midst of our insane world. Maybe these photos even brought a breath of fresh air to you. 

Oh, one more thing. If you've listened to The Dorky Diva Show, you've probably already heard about this, but I wanted to share it here as well. I started a Discord group last year for folks who listen to my podcast to gather together and mostly discuss Star Wars. While we have plenty of Star Wars related discussion threads, we also have some really great conversations about baking/cooking tips, pets, fitness goals, and mental health.
