Women-Owned Small Shops to Support in 2020

In the midst of layoffs and shutdowns this year, I've noticed a lot of people are starting their own online shops to support themselves through these tough times. I am lucky enough to know several extremely talented women that have started some amazing shops this year! As the holidays quickly approach, I wanted to remind you all that there are so many great places to shop that will positively impact individuals and families around the world. Rather than shopping at big businesses like Amazon, consider checking out small shops and Etsy stores that have been growing this year. These are just a few of my favorites!

Creature Cartel // This shop is owned and operated by my sweet friend Tori. She creates subtle Star Wars inspired jewelry and accessories to offer in the Creature Cartel Etsy store. I have several of her pieces and they are all so lovely. Tori has an incredible eye for design and knows how to capture a character's essence in a simply piece of jewelry. Most of her pieces are $20 or under, which makes them great for gifting or treating yourself!

Ringvelope // Have you ever been in an instance where you can't wear your wedding ring, but you still want to keep it with you? Ringvelope, founded by my friend Jenny, is the perfect solution to that problem. Whether you're working on stage or simply washing your dishes at home and need to remove your ring, the Ringvelope safely stores your ring and attaches to your clothing, bag, or any other safe place. Jenny is also offering masks in her store right now during the pandemic. There are so many beautiful options!

Maisie Lane Co. // I mentioned Maisie Lane Co. in a recent post all about bullet journaling and wanted to share them here again. I discovered this small brand on Instagram over the summer and I absolutely love their products. Within only a few hours of ordering a personalized journal from them, I received an email saying that my order had already been fulfilled and shipped. The owner, Tay, personalizes and ships all of the orders herself. I love following the Maisie Lane Co. Instagram for inspiration to spice up my bullet journal too!

CaiterBug Studios // My friend Caitlin runs CaiterBug Studios and she makes some of the most beautiful hand lettered artwork I've ever seen! She also makes felt pillows and offers tons of different digital art prints. Caitlin is a dog mom to a precious little Shiba Inu named Iroh and she has several adorable Shiba designs in her shop. She's also doing a really great Inktober series on her Instagram right now that is inspired by space. Be sure to follow her and check out her shop!

Prophecy Girl // This small shop is based in the United Kingdom, but they ship all around the world. Prophecy Girl, run by Kristy, is a clothing and accessory store that caters to women who love geek franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, and more. I love their subtle designs and small accessories that are perfectly for gifting. Recently Kristy has been offering various masks and new spooky jewelry in time for Halloween. You won't find these items anywhere else!

If you aren't able to monetarily support any small shops this year, that's okay! There are many other ways you can support small businesses that don't cost a penny. You can follow them on social media, share their store link with your friends online, and spread the word! In these dark times, any signal boost is a huge pick-me-up for small business owners. I hope you enjoy checking out these stores I recommended. I would love to hear which small shops you've been supporting this year. Leave a comment below!
