Star Wars Style: Blissful Batuu

Just over a year ago, one of my friends who works for the Walt Disney Company gave my mom and I the most amazing tour of the Imagineering campus in Gendale, California. He's been working on the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge project for the last few years so it was really interesting getting to see where the magic really comes into fruition at these offices. During our tour, he was kind enough to let my mom and I do some shopping at a very exclusive store on site called Mickey's of Glendale. We both grabbed all sorts of Imagineering branded clothing and coffee mugs, but they also had a Galaxy's Edge shirt that really caught my eye. I've been wearing it with jeans and sneakers since I bought it then, but I figured it was time to dress it up for warmer weather!

It's crazy to think that we heard about this new Star Wars addition to the U.S. Disney parks several years ago and now we're just shy of three weeks away from it opening in Disneyland. My favorite part about the process has been seeing the concept go from designs on paper to real structures in the parks. When I lived in Anaheim, I could see the spires being built from steel and quickly and looking like actual petrified trees. While I won't be attending the Galaxy's Edge grand opening, I'm super excited to hear about Batuu once it's open!

The shirt that I styled today features concept art of the Foundry Level, which I believe is the main city area of Batuu where all of the shops will be located. The back of the shirt says "Walt Disney Imagineering" across the shoulders. It was originally created for D23 in 2017, but it seems like the overstock went to Mickey's of Glendale. I'm so happy I was able to buy this design. I've never seen anyone else wearing it!

I paired the shirt with a bright red patterned skirt, my favorite powder blue heels, light pink tassel earrings, and a leather bag. The color, pattern, and texture of the skirt were a little busy together, so pairing it with this shirt seemed to work together well. If you look closely, you can see that I snuck in a little Imperial logo ring too. Jewelry is such a fun and easy way to incorporate subtle Star Wars notes into your outfit.

What I Wore:

T-Shirt- D23 Exclusive
Skirt- Dip
Shoes- Target
Purse- Madewell
Earrings- Target

Several of my friends have already asked me where I got this skirt and the truth is that I found it at my supermarket. Yes, the grocery store! Kroger has a new apparel brand called Dip that is carried across their larger supermarket chains. I've grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a couple other items from their store before, but never anything outside of sleepwear items. This skirt caught my eye when I was shopping last week and I had to pick it up. They carry it in white and navy blue as well. It'll be a staple in my closet this summer!

Are you already planning what to wear for your first visit to Galaxy's Edge? I can't wait to see what everyone wears!
