Solo Mini-Painting Giveaway

To kickoff what I like to call "Star Wars month" I thought it would be fun to throw a little giveaway. Thanks to the help of my amazing artist friend Bill Madia, I'm thrilled to share that I'm giving away this Solo: A Star Wars Story miniature painting. This soon-to-be iconic scene is captured beautifully on a miniature canvas. Bill titled this painting "Best Friends" and I don't think that name could be more suitable. Han and Chewie are one of my favorite bestie duos in all of Star Wars. I can't wait to find out how they meet in Solo!

Bill Madia is based in Joliet, Illinois and has an amazing journey about how he became an artist. Here's his story...

From an early age, I’ve always liked to draw and I’ve always liked movies. One of my earliest drawings that I can remember was only three images and it was Dr. Jekyll turning into Mr. Hyde. As for movies, The Ten Commandments and The Poseidon Adventure are the two pictures that made me love films in the early 70’s. Five years later, a movie came out that changed my life- Star Wars. That’s when I became obsessed with how movies were made and set my sights on film school. I went to Columbia College in Chicago and majored in film and art. I never made it into the film industry, but I kept at my drawing and painting. For a long time I was focused on black and white pencil drawings and eventually worked my way to colored pencils. After doing that throughout the 90’s and into the millennium, I wanted something less labor intensive yet still creative, but most importantly, unique. I stumbled on some mini canvases one day and the thought hit me- iconic scenes from my favorite movies! I started with square mini canvases and graduated quickly to my current 2”x4” rectangle canvas. They’re more like a theater screen. I did these for a few years, mostly for my own enjoyment but I was actually building an inventory. What started as a novel idea has grown to almost 400 mini paintings created and I’ve sold over a quarter of them! That pretty much brings me up to today.
